Engaging Communities Through Art

Welcome to Art & Tolerance, fostering dialogue, understanding, tolerance and connection through artistic expression.

Panjabi Poetica

We nurture a love for Panjabi poetry amongst a multi -generational & multi-religious group which includes students, artists, culture bearers and community members. Continuing the popular tradition of  Mehfils, we gather to recite and sing the verses and poetry of Panjabi poets, passing on Panjab’s  cultural and literary traditions  amongst the diaspora in California. For videos of past gatherings please click the tab in the menu bar above.

 Visual Arts

We bring together artists and  community members through curated art exhibits & group visits to  galleries and museums with the desire to preserve & promote the arts and literature of Panjab. In Jan 2024, we visited "I will meet you yet again: Contemporary Sikh Art" at the Fowler Museum at UCLA (Los Angeles). In Nov. 2023 we visited "Out of Place" solo show of artist Rupy C. Tut at the ICA SF (San Francisco). For details please click the tab in the menu bar above.

Nurturing Culture Bearers

We invite  artists - poets, singers, dancers, musicians to create ways to connect  poetry to melody and movement, enhancing  the reach of the spoken word as well as allowing for  artists to learn  from  our senior culture bearers who carry native knowledge of  poetic traditions.
