Exploring Tolerance

We use the sculpture “The Thinker by Auguste Rodin”, as a metaphor to think about the ideas related to punishment and criminal justice in the United States.

“Until the mid-1970s, rehabilitation was a key part of U.S. prison policy. Prisoners were encouraged to develop occupational skills and to resolve psychological problems....  Since then, however, rehabilitation has taken a back seat to a "get tough on crime" approach that sees punishment as prison's main function,” excerpts from American Psychological Association http://www.apa.org/monitor/julaug03/index.aspx ( then click on "Rehabilitate or Punish?")

The Condition of Female Imprisonment

The Condition of Female Imprisonment is a artwork That deals with female imprisonment based on role models and misogyny. The female figures finished in white glaze are bent in a defeated, suppliant manner.  Because they have no arms they are unable to care for themselves or build a life.

A New Way for a New Generation

Babies are not born racist. Racism is learned. The sculpture “A New Way for a New Generation”, presents the trapped babies inside of the ball  which is symbolic for the stifling effect of racist thinking on the new generation, nevertheless, there is a path for a better future and finding ways to educate humanity.
